Terrorist Attack Fallout: Trump To Stop US Diversity Visa Lottery
Following yesterdays terror attack in lower Manhattan New York President Trump launched a new campaign against the US Diversity Visa Lottery program.
The Diversity Visa Lottery program is an immigration program prepared by Congress and signed into law by the George H. W Bush administration in 1990. The bill offers immigration options to 55,000 immigrants from countries who sent less immigrants to the united states in preceding five years.
The bill was sponsored by Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Massachusetts, and co-sponsored by Sen. Al D'Amato, R-New York whom Sen, Schumer later defeated. Schumer voted in favor of the legislation.

President Trump prefers merit based system. Not a “chain migration system” as he described it, like the diversity program that enabled the attacker to enter the country and also bring in 23 more people from his native Uzbekistan.
In a midday press briefing at the White House today, President Trump said “We have to get much tougher, we have to get more smarter and we have to get less politically correct.” while referring to the suspect as “Animal” . He also called the US justice system a ‘Joke” a laughing stock.

In an early morning tweet. Mr. President squarely blamed Democratic Congressman Chuck Schumer for initiating the program that brought in the attacker.

Schumer responded in a statement that The President should not over politicize the incident and should focus on leading the nation. He also accuse the trump administration of trying to cut down on the Federal anti-terrorism budget.

“I have always believed and continue to believe that immigration is good for America," the Senate New York (D) minority leader said.
"President Trump, instead of politicizing and dividing America, which he always seems to do at times of national tragedy, should be focusing on the real solution — anti-terrorism funding — which he proposed cutting in his most recent budget." he continued.
New York Gov Cuomo said “suspect is radicalized domestically” not agreeing with Donald Trump.
The alleged terrorist is a 29, year-old man; Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, from Uzbekistan. Using a rented Home Depot truck he plowed through a busy bike path yesterday afternoon in lower Manhattan killing 8 people and injuring another 11. Border Control confirmed he entered the country in 2010 via the Diversity Visa Lottery program.

CNN analysts worry that Trump’s speech today shows that the President does not clearly under how the DV lottery scheme works. He fails to realize that the lottery winners also undergo extensive security protocols as any other US visa applicant.
They found it difficult to understand why Trump would so much focus on immigration related to the New York incident and do less about gun laws related to recent LA shooting where 58 Americans where gunned down and over 500 hurt by a single man using a semi-automatic gun fitted with “Bump Stocks”
The 2018 US diversity visa lottery commenced Oct 1. The program is deemed pretty intense, equipped stringent measures ensure that only people native to eligible countries can apply.
This year the under listed countries are exempted because they have more than 50,000 native born individuals who has immigrated to the US in the last five years; "Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China (mainland-born), Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, South Korea, United Kingdom (except Northern Ireland) and its dependent territories, and Vietnam."
